Description : According to the Institute of Medicine, daily allowance for calcium ranges from 600 to 1300 mg in relation to age and gender. The Indian Council of Medical Research recommends 600 mg for both genders. In the USA and Northern Europe, the average daily intake of calcium is about 900–1000 mg, and in South Asia and India, it is 400–500 mg. This means that at both geographical areas, intake of calcium is suboptimal in >50% of population. This also gives impression that these all people require calcium supplementation - Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism: Jul–Aug 2019 - Volume 23 - Issue 4 - p 387-390.

Description : Calcitriol plays a role in plasma calcium regulation in concert with parathyroid hormone (PTH) by enhancing absorption of dietary calcium and phosphate from the gastrointestinal tract, promoting renal tubular reabsorption of calcium in the kidneys, and stimulating the release of calcium stores from the skeletal system. In addition to promoting fatty acid synthesis and inhibiting lipolysis, calcitriol has been demonstrated to increase energy efficiency by suppressing Uncoupling protein-2(UCP2) expression, which is modulated by signaling pathways of classical nuclear receptors (nVDR), where calcitriol acts as a natural ligand. There is also evidence that calcitriol modulates the action of cytokines and may regulate immune and inflammatory response, cell turnover, cell differentiation. Administered orally and intravenously, calcitriol is commonly used as a medication in the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism and resultant metabolic bone disease, hypocalcemia in patients undergoing chronic renal dialysis and osteoporosis - The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 88 (2): 491S–499S.

Description : Osteoporosis prevalence was higher in the women and in the elderly. Nearly one out of three women in postmenopausal age group has osteoporosis. There is no substantial difference across the four regions of the country. Considering the significant prevalence of low BMD, there is needed to increase the awareness about bone health in general population - Int J Res Orthop 2021.

Description : Hypovitaminosis D is a common syndrome with well-established risk factors. Only recently, however, are the expansive implications of deficiency becoming recognized. Assessing vitamin D level is crucial in comprehensive management of patients - JAAPA : Feb 2015 - Vol 28 - Iss 2 - p 20-26. The doses vary according to the degree of deficiency, the patient's age, and the presence of risk factors. As a practical rule, it can be predicted that for every 100 IU supplemented, there is an increase of 0.7–1.0 ng/mL in the concentration of 25(OH)D. Vitamin D3 supplementation is a safe procedure with doses up to 10,000 IU daily for 5 months not inducing signs of toxicity - Indian J Endocrinol Metab. 2017 May-Jun; 21(3): 367-368.

Description : The unique structure of Ibandronate is described, along with how this translates into the high antiresporptive potency, favorable bone-binding persistence in bone and good tolerability that permits less frequent dosing with its potentinal benefits for patient convenience and adherence to therapy - Bone. 2005 Oct; 37(4):433-40
Description : Thiocolchicoside is a skeletal muscle-relaxant drug used in the treatment of orthopedic, traumatic and rheumatologic disorders. It is indicated as an adjuvant drug in the treatment of painful muscle contractures and is indicated in acute spinal pathology, for adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older. Recent studies have examined its effect on muscle tone, stiffness, contractures, and soreness experienced by athletes during sporting competitions.
Etoricoxib is a synthetic, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with antipyretic, analgesic, and potential antineoplastic properties. Etoricoxib specifically binds to and inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), resulting in inhibition of the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. Inhibition of COX-2 may induce apoptosis and inhibit tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis.
The Time Tested Combination of Calcium & Vitamin D
Composition : Carbonate 1250mg + Vitamin D3 250 IU
Form : Tablets
/ Pack : 10 x 10's
/ Type : Blister
Description : Calcium plays a very important role in human body, necessary for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscle, and bone. Low level of calcium in the blood, take up calcium from bones, thereby weakening bones. Vitamin D helps body absorb calcium and phosphorus. Having the right amounts of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus is important for building and keeping strong bones. This combination medication is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who do not get enough calcium from their diets. Used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (hypoparathyroidism), and a certain muscle disease (latent tetany). Also used in certain conditions to get enough calcium (e.g., women who are pregnant, nursing, or postmenopausal, along with certain medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, or prednisone).

Description : The basic function of vitamin D3 in human body is to maintain the calcium-phosphate homeostasis. Its metabolic function is mediated by the nuclear VDR receptor. The existence of vitamin D3 receptors outside tissues and organs which take part in calcium-phosphate metabolism has resulted in not treating it as an anti rickets agent only. Lower arterial blood pressure observed in people living in sunny areas and decrease of arterial blood pressure values after exposure to UVB radiation could confirm the relationship between vitamin D3 and hypertension. Perhaps through its influence on calcium-phosphate metabolism, RAA system, immune system, control of endocrine glands and endothelium function the vitamin D3 contributes to lowering arterial blood pressure and lessening the risk of cardiovascular disease- Pol Merkur Lekarski. 2007 Oct; 23(136):307-10.
